Another Reason to be Grateful

,

(No, Its not mine yet)

Assalamualaiukum Warohmatulloh Wabarokatuh

I have great motorcycle that accompany me nearly every day through rain and day. I bought it as second hand on 2014 I think, but it produce on 2004 or 2005 so it’s been 11 years, quite aging for daily motor-cycle.  Some spare-part start is falling apart, a lot of repair and maintenance should be done. Luckily, the price of the motorcycle spare-part is nowhere near the price of car spare-part. Two things that I cannot fix are sometimes it’s hard to starter and gas consumption.

For the first problem. I have discuss with mechanic motorcycle, he suggest to open the engine and do some repair in the engine block. As I know, when you open the engine (turun mesin), it is like a gambling. It could make your engine better or worse. Yes I know, my motorcycle is aging so it can’t be returned like brand new one. But to take this gambling, when my motorcycle still runs, is not wise. I just have to accept that sometimes I have to “engkol” my motorcycle (and it’s not easy one).

The Second problem is the gas consumption. The three problem, which flash in my mind, are 1) my motorcycle have automatic transmission, 2) still use carburettors, and 3) Age over 10 years. Once I calculate how gas efficient it is, and the result is not surprise me, 25 Km per litter. Do you know how bad is it?, I have automatic car that runs 13 Km per litre with 1.400cc engine, and my motorcycle is only 110 cc and its consumption is just 2 times of my car.

Suddenly, my thought is wrong. Few weeks ago, there is a leak between the engine and the gas tank. But it only happen when the motorcycle is start running, and it will stop when I stop the motorcycle. Everything like normal, beside there is droplets below the engine, but when you see the gas indicator it is not normal anymore. It runs really fast, maybe my calculation that it can consumes 10 Km per litter. In total, I go to 5 Motorcycle service until the problem is done.

After the incident, now I grateful with how my motorcycle work. A very popular phrase, “You do not know what you get until you lose it”, we actually never think about it, even though it repeats so many times,  until we experience it by our self.

“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' " (QS Ibrahim:7)
